The Hearth Project in Mayo — which brings art into the homes of older people who are isolated geographically or restricted for other reasons — has received funding from Healthy Ireland for 2018. Each participant is visited by a skilled artist who is experienced in working with older people. The artist travels to the home of the older person weekly and facilitates a one to one workshop there.

Achill International Harp Festival returns to Achill Island over the October Bank Holiday Weekend of October 27 to 30 showcasing the finest exponents of contemporary harp playing representing various styles, genres, and musical cultures. Irish traditional boats in general took on distinctive regional characteristics and the designs of crafts were shaped by purpose, available materials and historical circumstances. Because of our geographical size, Mayo has been a focus of academics studying our many contributions to traditional boat typology.
